Darwalla Group is a proud Australian Family Business and is the largest Queensland-owned poultry producer. The Benfer Family commenced operations at Mt Cotton in 1933 and today grow in excess of 28 million chickens each year in their facilities located throughout South-East Queensland.

Darwalla is fully integrated poultry producer with rearing, breeding, hatching and growing facilities supported by feed milling, maintenance and support staff. Strong focus on our people, quality and animal welfare ensures that we are highly regarded within the industry. All of Darwalla’s birds are grown as a combination of free-range and barn-raised chicken under strict animal welfare standards.

What started as a small family business has developed into a sustainable, efficient and highly specialised operation. Darwalla directly employs around 160 great people across our sites and engages many local contractors and broiler growers. Darwalla’s production supports the employment of hundreds of other people through the two processing plants we supply – Golden Cockerel and Nerang Park Poultry.

We are proud to support our charity partner Foodbank plus other worthy organisations in the communities in the Redlands and Southern Darling Downs.
